Job Title: Family & Education Director

Job Description: The Family & Education Director will work to create a cohesive programming and educational plan to ensure the spiritual growth and development of families, children and youth at Skidaway Island Methodist Church. The Family & Education Director will work in collaboration with existing full-time Youth Director and part-time Children's Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Children's Director to select, implement a curriculum for Children's Church and lead age level appropriate classes, with a specific focus on older elementary children.
  • Collaborate with the Youth Director to select and implement curriculum for middle school and senior high youth; be present and available to lead youth programming, small groups and fellowship events as needed.
  • Orchestrate community outreach programs, service opportunities and fellowship programs for families, children, youth and adults with an aim to grow SIMC's church body.
  • Recruit and train volunteers to serve in vital ministry roles with children and youth.
  • Serve as an integral part of the ministry team with leadership, vision and team building.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and previous ministry experience
  • A strong desire to share the Christian faith and serve within a church setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with other ministry departments
  • Ability to oversee a staff of employees and volunteers

Job Title: Director of Youth and Family Life Ministries

Job Description:

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Under the Direction of the Senior Pastor, the Director of Youth & Family Life Ministries is a full-time position and will be overall responsible for the youth programs and adult ministry programs of Kingsland First Methodist Church. The position is considered salary exempt as described in the U.S. Fair Labor Standards Act.

The following responsibilities are included but not limited to:

Youth Ministry

  • Review, select, implement and teach Biblical Curriculum in accordance with Methodist doctrine.
  • Implement, oversee and manage Ministry Safe program for youth ministry volunteers.
  • Review, submit, and maintain program budget.
  • Schedule, promote, coordinate, and oversee weekly and monthly programs.
  • Oversee use and scheduling of the Youth Building.
  • Schedule, promote, coordinate, and oversee church sponsored outreach opportunities to the community.
  • Coordinate and oversee 3rd party organizations to provide services to the youth.
  • Oversee Youth Praise Band.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee youth service projects & mission trips.
  • Coordinate, plan, and oversee youth trips.
  • Coordinate volunteers in guiding, mentoring, and instructing youth.

Adult Ministry

  • Assist in the promotion of small group activities.
  • Assist in the promotion of Sunday school classes.
  • Review, submit, and maintain program budget.
  • Purchase curriculum for adult programs as needed/requested.
  • Schedule, promote, coordinate, and oversee weekly and monthly programs (i.e., Family Night Supper/ Potlucks).
  • Oversee outreach opportunities to the community (i.e., Fall Festival, Easter Egg Hunt, etc.).
  • Acts as the staff point of contact for adult programs and activities.

Ancillary Responsibilities

  • Present the “Welcome Announcements” in the weekly worship service.
  • Conducts home and hospital visits of church members in need of spiritual guidance, prayer, and counseling as needed or as requested by the Pastor.
  • Be responsive and available to volunteers whenever they are available to meet/communicate (i.e., after 5pm and weekends).
  • Attends and participates in the monthly Church Council meetings.
  • Attends other church committees as directed to facilitate the growth and operation of ministry programs.

  • Preach in the Sunday worship service as needed.

  • Oversee children’s biblical instruction.
  • Implement, oversee and manage Ministry Safe program for children’s ministry volunteers and vulnerable adults.
  • Coordinate volunteers in guiding, mentoring, and instructing children.
  • Supervise and coordinate nursery staff.
  • Review, submit, and maintain program budget.
  • Schedule, promote, coordinate, and oversee weekly and monthly programs.
  • Schedule, promote, coordinate and oversee church sponsored outreach opportunities to the community (i.e. Vacation Bible School, Christmas Eve Birthday Party for Jesus, etc.).
  • Coordinate and oversee 3rd party organizations to provide services to the children.

  • Be responsive and available to volunteers whenever they are available to meet/communicate (i.e., after 5pm and weekends).
  • Attends and participates in monthly Church Council meetings.
