GMC Announces Relationship with GuideStone Financial Resources

Upon the recommendation of the Global Methodist Church’s Benefits Team the Church’s Transitional Leadership Council has approved a shift from Wespath Benefits and Investment to GuideStone Financial Resources for the administration of health insurance and retirement benefits for clergy and lay church employees. The transition from Wespath to GuideStone will be completed on July 1, 2024; Wespath will continue providing services through June 30.

Retirement Program

The Global Methodist Church offers a Personal Investment Plan retirement program — a 403(b) defined contribution plan — for eligible lay and clergy participants.

Health Insurance

The Global Methodist Church provides health insurance for eligible lay and clergy participants. HealthFlex is administered for the GMC through Wespath.

Life & Disability

The Global Methodist Church offers eligible lay and clergy participants long-term disability and life insurance benefits administered through UNUM.

Questions?

Can I waive benefits?

The GMC allows for the waiving of benefits due to existing Medicare or other qualifying reasons.

Those desiring to waive coverage must submit the Waiver Form via email to TBD.

Medicare participants will also need to additionally submit the Medicare Waiver Form via email to TBD.

What are the impacts on Benefits from disaffiliating from the UMC?

Wespath has provided a document detailing the impacts on benefits for those disaffiliating from the UMC. This does not include any of the new benefits that GMC clergy will receive.
