Twin City Methodist Church
What are your experiences and areas of service that you believe will be valuable in your role as a General Conference delegate?
I am a lifelong member of Twin City Methodist Church and despite living away from the area for 20 years due to my career, I always maintained my membership at my home church that I’ve now been back as an active member for 8 years. I have two sons that are 5th generation members of our church. I am the Lay Leader, Worship Leader, PPR Chairman and also recently completed my Certified Lay Minister Training, and I fill in for our pastor now and couldn’t be more excited to have this opportunity! I have been in many positions of leadership and service throughout my life.
From my younger years in Boy Scouts and earning the rank of Eagle as well as being the Scoutmaster of our troop, to President of baseball ballparks and civic clubs to being on the Emanuel County Board of Education to my career in corporate America where I’ve managed many hundreds of people and am going on 28 years in my career. I have a unique perspective on what leadership looks like in the corporate, education, civic, and church world. I love to serve our church and the Global Methodist Church in anyway possible and am always striving to grow as a Christian.
Describe why you believe that God has potentially called you to serve as a General Conference delegate.
I believe God is calling me to use my experience in leadership and my heart to serve to help others in their faith journey. I know God gives each of us gifts and I want to honor God and use my gifts to help others draw closer to Christ. Although I do not have a lot of experience in church leadership beyond Twin City Methodist Church, I believe that gives me a fresh perspective and potentially new ideas because I’m not aware of the “this is how we’ve always done things” traditions that often accompany experience.
I’ve grown so much closer to Christ in the last few years and I want to continue my journey and experience as much as I can to help me in future ministry. Worshiping with a group of Christians from throughout the world that what we have in common is a love for Jesus is exactly how I believe Christ would want His church to be in 2026. A group of Christians figuring out how to move forward together and worship God despite our differences is something I would be honored to be a part of and I work hard and do my due diligence to add value to the Global Methodist Church and all of our laity.
