Rev. Michelle Johnson
Skidaway Island Methodist Church
What are your experiences and areas of service that you believe will be valuable in your role as a General Conference delegate?
I have served in full-time ministry for almost 30 years. As a young person, God called me into ministry, and I fulfilled that call as a layperson for many years serving in youth ministry, adult ministry, discipleship, and Christian education in the Alabama-West Florida and South Georgia Conferences. Several years ago, God stirred in my heart and led me into pastoral ministry. I now serve as the Executive Pastor at Skidaway Island Methodist Church, a congregation I’ve loved and served for 11 years. Throughout my journey in ministry, both as a lay person and as clergy, I have been deeply committed to both serving and leading in the local church. I have walked with churches through significant pastoral changes, the visioning process, building campaigns, and church-wide discipleship programs. Within the Global Methodist Church, I’ve had a growing number of opportunities to serve on Conference committees including the mission task force and the AC planning team.
Describe why you believe that God has potentially called you to serve as a General Conference delegate.
As a life-long Methodist, I am committed to the continuation and the growth of the Methodist movement. I know that God called me into ministry to serve with compassion, humility and grace, which is the same spirit I would embrace as a delegate to General Conference. I have a heart for discipleship and seeing the people of God grow deep roots of faith and scriptural understanding. I am organized and thoughtful and would approach the responsibility of clergy delegate intentionally and prayerfully, while seeking God’s wisdom and discernment.
The 2026 General Conference will be a significant time in solidifying our denomination’s foundation to ensure a Holy Spirit led movement and growth within the body of Christ. It would be a joy, honor and privilege to represent South Georgia at General Conference.
