Rev. Scott Tucker
Good Shepherd Savannah
What are your experiences and areas of service that you believe will be valuable in your role as a General Conference delegate?
I am the pastor of Good Shepherd Savannah, a two-year-old church with no permanent building, but finding joyful and creative ways to reach new people with the Gospel.
After a two-year term as Presiding Elder for the greater Savannah area, I have stepped away from that role to serve as the chair of our South Georgia Board of Ministry.
You elected me to represent South Georgia at the convening General Conference in 2024. In the Constitution Legislative Committee, we refined our new mission statement βto spread scriptural holiness across the globe,β and I spearheaded a re-ordering of our Constitution to emphasize the primary place of the local church. I feel called to continue that work in 2026.
Describe why you believe that God has potentially called you to serve as a General Conference delegate.
I have a broad range of relationships and ministry experiences over the last 25 years as a pastor in small and large churches, a campus ministry chaplain, and a missionary in a Central Asian country where Christians were a small counter-cultural minority.
All of that prepared me to take the risk and join a team planting a new church in suburban Savannah, where Christians find themselves once again as a joyful counter-cultural witness for the truth and power of the Gospel.
This missionary calling is at the heart of the Global Methodist Church and will govern our ability to grow as a structurally efficient, faith-fueled, and mission-driven movement.
