Educational Opportunities Travel for South Georgia Global Methodist

The South Georgia Global Methodist connection is excited to have Rev. Michelle Johnson available to resource us for church travel. In addition to serving as the executive pastor at Skidaway Island Methodist, Michelle is the Director of Travel Ministry for South Georgia with Educational Opportunities (EO), one of the most trusted Christian travel ministries in the world.

Michelle has served as an EO host for the past five years, guiding groups through some of the most spiritually formational destinations on earth — including the Holy Land, Egypt, Greece, and Turkey. For Michelle, these journeys are far more than international travel.

“Visiting the lands of the Bible opens our eyes to Scripture in powerful ways,” Michelle shared. “Traveling with a small group from church creates friendships and spiritual depth that continue long after we return home.”

A Ministry of Pilgrimage

Educational Opportunities has spent more than 50 years helping Christians “walk where Jesus walked,” explore the roots of their faith, and grow spiritually in community. While Holy Land pilgrimages remain at the center of EO’s mission, the ministry continues to expand its offerings — including:

  • Church heritage tours in England

  • Journeys of Paul in Greece and Turkey

  • Fellowship and retreat cruises

  • Cultural exploration trips

  • EO’s new EoX program for flexible, small-group travel options

Upcoming 2026 Travel Opportunities

Michelle is already helping prepare for several major 2026 journeys:

Women’s Retreat Cruise — January 24–29, 2026

A refreshing Bahamas cruise designed for spiritual renewal and fellowship among women across South Georgia and beyond.

Guest Speaker: Jen Cowart, Harvest Church (Byron, GA)

Jen will lead participants through Scripture with her signature clarity, warmth, and practical teaching.
It’s a perfect opportunity for a women’s ministry group or friends to travel together.

Holy Land Pilgrimage — October 27–November 5, 2026

A deeply meaningful journey through the sacred sites of the Bible.

Trip Leader: Bishop Leah Gregory

This pilgrimage brings together travelers from South Georgia, MidTexas, and the Northeast Conference for a shared time of worship, history, and spiritual growth.

Serving the Local Church

In her new role, Michelle will be a resource for churches, pastors, and potential hosts who want to bring pilgrimage-based discipleship to their congregations. She can help:

  • Identify the best EO trip for a church’s needs

  • Assist pastors or group leaders in planning and preparation

  • Develop teaching and devotional rhythms before and during the journey

  • Guide churches on how small groups can join larger itineraries or use EoX for customized travel

“I love helping churches bring Scripture to life,” Michelle said. “A well-planned pilgrimage can transform a congregation’s discipleship and deepen their understanding of God’s Word.”
